Would Amsoil 20w-50 synthetic hydrostatic transmission fluid be a good choice for Hydro-Gear ZT-2200 (EZT) ?
I will try to us an evacuator pump to remove as much fluid as possible without taking the transmissions off the machine.
Manufacturer says 20w-50 SL.
I guess my question is, are there better choices?

The Amsoil fluid is designed for commercial zero turn use, very good stuff!
If your unit calls for a 20w50 fluid, should be an ideal fluid for you. Shear resistant and handles heat very well.

That is a vary good choice there. Like dave123 said, I also have the ZT2800 transmissions that I changed to M1 15w50. I once was at a OPE dealer and they had M1 15w50 stocked in the showroom. I asked if that is what they are promoting now as engine oil. They told me its for customers looking for oil to change in the hydrostatic transmission.

That would probably be the best choice possible for these drives.

I owned a ZTR with ZT2800s some years ago, but didn't own it long enough to change the oil and filters on them.
