Does anyone have any experience with Kendall GT-1 Euro
? I have been using Castrol EDGE 0W-40 in my X5 with good results (and a [censored] of a value). However, I'd like to see if switching oils will result in less consumption (primarily through the valve stem seals). EDGE 0W-40 has a healthy slug of PAO, which has excellent properties compared to Group III basestock, however, it has a shrinking effect on seals. I'd like to see if a Group III-based oil (that still retains LL-01) reduces consumption.
I would probably go with the 5W-30. It is on the thick side with a 3.6 HTHS and a 12.2 KV100... It appears the 5W-40 just has more VII since it has the same cold properties as the 5W-30. It's under $6 a quart (still affordable for a 9 quart sump), it has all the same euro manufacturer approvals, and everyone seems to love Kendall's GF-5 oils around here.
Thoughts? Thanks guys!
