Anyone run Skok-buffs on their 1911s. My custom 1911s came with them so I have been running them. They claim they prevent the slide from smashing the frame during recoil. Saw that they now make them for the Beretta 92fs...just got me thinking if they really do anything? They seem like they are absorbing something when I have changed mine. Just curious.

I know a 1911 guru that has put hundreds of thousands of rounds thru his various guns and recommends not to use them. I don't, and have put around 10K thru my single Colt 1991A1. On other hand, lots of folks do use them...if the gun works well with one, I can't see how it can hurt. Unless you leave it in till it starts to shred.
