Does anyone manufacture a small bypass filter?

I've used the Amsoil 6" filter in the past but I would like one that occupies less space; for example, something about the size of a PF454.

I would cheerfully trade more frequent element changes for compactness.

Thanks... Mike

The smallest spin on bypass filter that I know of is a Baldwin B296. It is 3-11/16 wide and 3-7/8 long. You would need to get a 5/8-18 threaded mount for it. There is a oil flow restrictor built into the filter already (around .060 in size). However, if you want to slow the flow down even further you would need to install a .030 to .045 restrictor fitting somewhere, preferably before the filter. I personally use the .030 size on my bypass units. Hope this helps you out.

xtell, that is the specific info I've been searching for... I'll check it out. Thanks for providing it!

The Fram P3317 is the shorter version of the PB50
(about the same size as the Baldwin B296 mentioned earlier)

The Hastings LF445 is just a touch over 3" long,
making it the smallest spin on by-pass filter that I know of.

I think it crosses to the Baldwin B222:
