So the past few days I would bring up Google on my Android phone and get trending. Today it's back to what it was before recent searches. Why is it switching between those two when I bring up Google on my Android phone?

I got google now in my phone. You can see them when you scroll down. Not really trending. It's more of sponsored content that is "trending" on mine.
When you bring up Google and go into the search but don't type anything what's directly below it? Recent searches or trending?. Then when you start typing it tries to predict. But before you do anything what's directly below it
I just went into my account and got rid of all recent activity which put the trending back directly below my Google app. However if I click on the activity button at the bottom Banner it's all still there. I'm telling you this Google stuff requires a PhD to use it
