ACDelco A348C excessive oil

Was looking at these filters at O'Reilly and they appear to be built just as good as the Wix so I thought I would try one but found them cheaper at Amazon so I ordered one.

When I opened the package I notice right away the oil on the box. The filter seems to have a light coat of oil covering it. The ones at the auto parts store did not have any oil on them. Is this normal or will it make the filter plug up quicker.

Since there are no sensors involved in this application I figure I'll just wipe it off the best I can and use it.

I didn’t know it had oil on it but isn’t that a good thing? I believe the Fram Tough Guard Air filters have an oil film.

light oil mist applied to keep that metal from rusting..just like brake rotors. People wont buy if there is a spec of rust on metal items.

Yep, it's a "preservative," anti-rusting oil film.
