Hello folks

Had this analysis done on my vw. It was a sample from the second Oil change since new.
Oil has been in service for 11.700km, and one year.
I was wondering if the higher aluminium could be from cold starts from a year of use, not to forget the winter months.

Oil : German Castrol Edge FST TI 0w-30

Any comments?

Er det ikke for dyrt at sende olieprøver til USA??

Ikke ret meget jern.. Det er måske alusil cylindre?

Hey. Svarer på engelsk.

Not expensive.
Shipping is ~60kr, and the analysis is 160kr, plus 70kr for the TBN.

Thx for the reply.

I am relying on blackstone (what else Can i do), and when they mention AL could very well be from pistons, i must assume they know what they are takling about.

When looking at other reports from new cars, AL seems to drop right after the first Oil change.

Do you think that break-in is still going on?

Whether it is or not, two oil changes worth isn't a great deal of "flushing" the stuff out.

Ps get the original engine cover, looks so much better.

Correct. 30tkm on vw long life 5w-30
I go for 0w-30, which is only approved for 15tkm.
Funny is, the 0w-30 is approved by BMW for the long 30tkm intervals.

15k km OCI for this C3 LL04 oil with ulsg seems short .
This engine breaking-in is in progress, but the quality engine design/surface finishing are such there isn't much 'dirt' to be flushed.
Yep, Al and some of (low'ish) Fe could be from winter season.

Did American Volkswagen's not get engine covers? My car is brand new and never had one. I have also seen many videos and they never had one.

I also had to buy it. Engine looks naked without it.
