I was thinking about it ... But I'm afraid of cracked transfer case those plugs are tappered already I don't want to add thickness ... I know it's minimal but liquid seems a little bit safer

Use Permatex 80632 Thread sealant. I've never had a leak/dip using this.

I wrapped mine with Teflon tape, and stayed away from the bottom of the threads.

I think itís fairly important to clean off the buildup of Teflon tape and/or thread sealant, particularily on aluminum transfer cases and then re-apply a fresh coating. Make sure the drain plug on the transfer case has the integral magnet.

You can use that or tape just don't over tighten it, snug and a hair will do it.

Considering I have one that is stuck in place, and now stripped, I'm more of the mind to use nothing.

I never use anything. If it comes out easy, it hopefully goes back in easy.
