Hey,

I have torque down intake manifold bolts to 11 ft lb

My torque wrench starts at 10 ft lb ...

https://www.cpooutlets.com/platinum-tools-c2fr50f-3-8-in--drive-10---50-lbs-ft--split-beam-click-wrenches/prenc2fr50f,default,pd.html#xsell=prenc2fr50f--2

I guess I should look for a different one for this job ? I know that they are not very accurate at low scale.

Thank you

Maybe an inch - pound torque wrench & do the math conversion ?

Best of luck , :-)

If you are + 20% should be fine.

Manifold What on?

Story: I recall snapping the cam box bolts on my GF Suzuki 500 doing a valve lash adjustment. Torque to yield.

I had a short ratchet and I was even choked on it up near the head - just running the bolts down PRIOR to torqueing them. Never ran into this situation before with American made engines.

At least I could get (what was left of)them out of the casting with my bare fingers since the threads in the casting werent distorted.

Torque wrenches are generally accurate from 20%-100% of the specified range.

You need to buy a new torque wrench, probably an inch lbs one.

Its plastic intake manifold going to alu block ...

Do you guys think that those cheap princess auto torques are suitable for this ?

https://www.princessauto.com/en/detail/1-4-in-dr-digital-torque-wrench/A-p8381477e

or this ?

https://www.princessauto.com/en/detail/1-4-in-dr-click-type-torque-wrench/A-p8653990e

should I compensate for 1/4 to 3/8 adapter ?

I think you should be OK, especially if the bolts are to be coated with a anaerobic sealant. Get a different torque wrench in in-lbs for those smaller bolts. I use a bike torque key set at 5Nm for smaller screws that the OEM calls for low torque on.

You need an inch pound torque wrench with a range of about 30-200 inch pounds for that job.

I've been happy with this, but eventually I do want to upgrade to nicer.

PA's Pro Point brand is probably the highest quality available in a big box store around here in Toronto. All of the stuff I have seen is Taiwan made, nicely finished and beefy. I understand why some people argue USA made = Taiwan made > China made when I handle their tools.

I would use it without hesitation.

EDIT: Would a adapter not distort the torque readings?
