I am looking for a 0W40 oil that is 229.51 approved and easily available in Canada. I can not find an easy one to buy. Any suggestions? Roger

M1 FS 0w-40 does not meet MB 229.51 spec. But the upcoming M1 0w-40 ESP will.

M1 5w-30 ESP meets it also.

Mercedes.

Mercedes-specific Mobil 1 Formula M 5W-40 is reasonably priced at dealers, in addition to the 0W-40 oils from the major players.

I guess that’s right. I’m waiting for 229.51 vs 2.0 LOL

Google 229.5 It’s off a Mercedes Benz list.

The OP is asking about 229.51 which is a different spec from 229.5.
229.51 is low SAPS.

Which explains why Castrol Edge 0w-40 (Euro) went back to lower calcium, high magnesium mix 1-2 years ago.

The MB 229.51 approved Edge is the 0W-40 C3. The 0W-40 A3/B4 is 229.5 approved.

Get Mobil1 5W30 ESP if you cannot find 0W40.

It's upcoming in North America. Obviously it has been available in other parts of the world for quite some time.

Tried to find anything on it, could not. I know pds is present for some time. It would be great to have LL-04 like that in local Wal Mart.

I received this today. I am going to use this in the summer. 5W30 is in it now

Apparently not until Q3 2018, according to the GM guys. GM now recommends this oil for the new Corvette. Possibly GM dealers will have this oil before then.

HTHS 3.53????
M1 5W30 ESP has HTHS of 3.58. I thought they are bringing EU version of HTHS of 3.76.
