Today I managed to get 10 gallons of Castrol Edge 0w20 full synthetic, for free. The place I use for vibration testing tests everything. I go for electronics, but they test everything.

Well, they were finally done testing the oil I have been asking about. I will most likely get more, they have 5w20, 5w30, and 10w30 left. I'll take the two 5w20's next week.

Best part, two other full pallets stacked in un opened boxes still to be tested, lots of 0w20 and 5w20.

Only downside, bottles are opened for this test. Test involves opening bottle, screwing on a dispenser, turn bottle upside down, see how much oil comes out over a period of time. Basically leak check under various conditions. When tests were over, cap back on.

I've never used castrol edge, decent oil? Has to be better than toyota bulk oil, right?


I think my tundra will live on this for the rest of it's life. Right now I do 9-10k on mobil 1, I would hope this could do the same. Picture:

They test EVERYTHING? Could they test vehicles for an annoying vibration at exactly the same RPM in any gear?

Well, I guess not everything. But I am happy they gave me oil instead of ketchup, bloody mary mix, or tylenol like in the past, ha.

You could do what I do - work through your church to find families that need basic auto maintenance.

I do a lot of free oil changes for folks when I have a lot of supplies on hand (and lots of .50 and $1.00 clearance filters)

That is great you do that, but that is not for me. When/if something goes wrong, I am not being held responsible. I give in other ways, but not oil changes. Be careful, never know.

There's been times when people come into Walmart blaming us that there transmission failed because we changed oil spank . No way I would touch another persons car, unless I had insurance.

I would change it every 5000 miles with that much oil. Heck, every 3000 miles would work. Change the filter every 3 change.

Nice score though. Biggest thing is how to get the oil get out of the bottle into the vehicle?

Great haul. And yes I like the extra straps. Very smart. Better than to have too many vs not enough.

Funny. The bottles are top heavy, take a look. It's a lot of weight. If I just used the one strap across, oil would be everywhere. Have to remember, they are opened, and if one fell and leaked, its not a quart, its 5 gallons.

My friend/co worker was laughing at me with all the straps. Problem was, my other 4 red straps were at home, and the black straps only have one hook, made for atv ramps. So it looks bad, but worked.

Next week I will put them in the rear of the bed, and have all my good straps.
