Hello all,

Just want to confirm something. The proper FRAM filter for a 2014 Hyundai Accent with a 1.6 ltr motor is the 9688 series. Will a SuperTech 9688 filter fit also? I know it sounds like a dumb question, but I believe I ran into a situation where the FRAM and Supertech numbers didn't match up. Thanks in advance for your input.

The now old Wix made ST9688 will fit/screw on, but due WM ST consolidation is really the smaller OD 7317 application size. As the current Wix made ST filter is being clearanced/closed out, what the new ST 9688/3593a application will be remains a question mark.

If it's the Wix made ST9688 it should fit fine. Work properly? Can't think of reason why it wouldn't. As noted the ST9688 OD is smaller, however it is slightly longer than a spec 9688 application. Overall oil volume close to spec 9688.

If you want to see pics with a comparison ST9688(7317) vs spec 9688 click on linked thread. Ignore the comments regarding what the 7317 would look like, it's an early new Wix ST thread. The 7317 application and 9688 consolidated and called the ST9688. I'd add, much better imo than using the shorty 6607 application which many quick lubes and indies use for the Hyun/Kia 9688 application. Beyond that, if not satisfied with answer better use spec size.

Thanks Sayjac. That answers my question. I appreciate all the good info. I was able to get 6 ST 9688 filters for $10.
