Harley Evo engines will run on that oil just fine.

That ol' 300-6 you've got will be very happy on that oil most all year round in Georgia.

20w50 was specified as a recommended oil above 32F along with SAE 30 HD, 15W40 and I think 20W40 in my 1980s water cooled VWs. If I ran my '85 1.8 gas Jetta on 10w30 in the summer, I would have hot oil pressure problems and intermittent hydraulic cam follower noise. The "dynamic oil pressure warning system" buzzer (annoying) and oil light would flash after pulling of the highway. I used 10w30 for winter and 20w50, SAE 30 HD or 15w40 for summer with great results.

The 20w-50, SAE 30 or SAE 40 weights are great top off oils in almost any engine. They will bump up the viscosity of sheared oils, especially near the end of an OCI.

Most old European classics run great on it, most Italian classics ( pre 1980s ) spec 20W-50, the same thing with most 60s and 70s British and German cars.
My Capri loves the stuff, specially Valvoline VR1, no wonder since it specs 20W-50 for above freezing temps.

When I worked at Lowe's, corporate decided to start selling motor oil and filters at the stores. We are in NW NJ, not a warm climate needless to say. They stocked the store with mainly 20W-50 then 10W-40 and some 10W-30. They did have a few quarts of 5W-30, no 5W-20. Wow! They wondered why the oil was not selling, IDIOTS!.

Whimsey

Here in Venezuela people uses 20w50 for almost everything, even in engines that "require" thin oil like Corollas, Mazdas and 2012 Silverados.

In the best case people uses 15w40

Harley calls for it. Ill use 20w-50 or 15w-50 in my 13 softail.

I have 3 yamahas which call for 20w-40, which is not readily available, putside of overpriced, leas than spectacular manfufacturer oil. 20w-50 is fine for these applications.
