Jeep has been the division many have wanted. Hyundai may be cherry picking the better parts here if it happens.

Could also be while the new RAM's design changed the way it did too....

"Rumor." Seeing is believing. Jeep and Ram seem to be doing well at the moment on their own. Either way it will be interesting to see how this plays out.

Daimler sold off their Chrysler ownership a decade ago with great losses. Fiat Runs Chrysler.

Geely is getting bigger all the time while western companies are dwindling due to regulations and the PC values of the western world.
The Americans and Europeans are going to regulate themselves right out of existence and its not going to take much longer, many companies are already on life support. In the end they will get exactly what they ordered.

Oh TRAV, come on. "Geely is getting bigger all the time while western companies are dwindling due to regulations and the PC values of the western world."
Who do you write scripts for?

THE LAST THING anybody EVER wants to do is hire people let alone pay a living wage too. Existing assembly lines (as in, paid for) and shipping costs are why there are is still car manufacturing here in the US.

Employing assembly line workers in less developed places is the goal.

Also, every time China or India buys some of our debt (to float our currency and keep inflation down) they get SOMETHING in the deal.
Do you think they're doing it out of kindness? They have LOTS of US dollars. Where do you think they're going to spend it?

All the while the industry's fat cats and shareholders get a big payday upon buyout.

Then you pull the word "PC values" out of your hat!

IT ALL COMES DOWN TO THE PEASANT'S BACK. Millions of them slave while working people here toss good CRT TV's and finance posh cars they don't maintain.
So much of it is our own fault.

One example of PC values is Co2 emissions as related to automobiles, we all know its a bunch of tripe but God forbid you question the junk science.
look at anyone who owns or wants a pickup on this board, they are hit with why do you need that to drive to work you could just as well use a lawnmower with seats.

Regulations have killed off many jobs over the last 30 years, the GM plant in Framingham mass is a classic example. Regulations and PC shuttered the plant that had been in use for over 50 years.
Geely is getting bigger because the Chicoms do anything and everything to make sure their factories run at max production and subsidize all sorts of things inc freight then manipulate their currency.

We are in a war of sorts with the Chicoms and loosing badly, maybe the latest tax cuts and reduced regulation will help I just hope its not too little too late. Tossing CAFE and diesel regs in the bin would be a big help IMO.

Mods if this is too political please toss it.

?

Why would a company with presently no investment from another, design their vehicle to suit that marque?

They wouldn't.

The redesign is likely a FIAT byproduct, similar to what we've seen with the rest of the product line.
