The Euros are different based on the viscosity. 0W40 is full-SAPS ACEA A3/B4 rated and good for long drains, 5W30 is low-SAPS ACEA C3 rated and not a good choice for extended drains in US gasoline engines. In a gas engine, you are probably better off sticking with plain Pennz Platinum in the correct viscosity for your vehicle.

HTHS is usually a big giveaway, ACEA A3/B4 requires min of 3.5 MPa. US specs are less
In relation API, ACEA specs is generally more demanding in terms of engine tests requirements, additive quality and package, percentage and quality of base oils.
Having said this, Some specific API SN oils (is Mobil EP being one?) may match or exceed some 'low-end' ACEA oils with SN though.JMHO.
