Castrol Edge Black Bottle 0W40??

Hello everybody,

Question, without doing a UOA -- is the Black Bottle Castol Edge 0W40 with the VW specs capable of 10,000 mile oil changes? I plan on using this oil in my new VW & going by the mfg. recommended 10,000 mile intervals.

Yes, it does carry various MFG long life specs, such as BMW LL-01 and MB 229.5.

And it carries VW 502.00 spec as well, which your engine calls for.

It is actually one of the better Euro oils in long OCI use because it contains magnesium which retains the TBN longer.

I have a 2017 VW All Track with the turbo 1.8 l. I am doing 5000 mile oil changes on this car as I am afraid leaving it in will cause more deposits with DI. Seems a lot of DI car owners do this. I do leave the Castrol LL-03 507 oil in my TDI for close to 10,000 miles, however, and have had no issues in 5 years.
