for 2014 Lancer Evo 2.0 L??? has anyone used the XG 7317??? Or what is know to fit work.

XG 7317 is "typically" the largest XG size...
If you have the room, Baldwin makes a couple even larger.

But really, if the "7317 size" can handle a 5.3 Chevy V8, I think it can handle your Mitsu.

The 7317 and 9688 are very close in terms of filter media. I would run whatever is spec'd personally.

Here's some XG9688 replacement specs.

K&N HP-1004. It is a bit longer than a 9688. The Evo guys that come into my dealership love the things. I use them on my 2015 Kia Optima.

I have some XG7317 so was hoping to use them up. However its odd the 7317 has a 13 psi BP and the 9688 has a 9-15 psi bp. Why the huge range on the 9688? Seems odd it has two numbers but the rest have one single number?? The 3593A looks to be the closest upsize but as mentioned by others why not just use the 9688 spec. Just wanted to know if using up the 7317 was possible I'm still wondering.

Being a new EVO family I have to ask was there problems with other filters in the EVOs? Lifter noise etc???

Since 13 PSI is about in the middle of the 9-15 PSI range, they are basically the same. If the 7317 physically fits in the mounting location I don't see any reason it wouldn't work.

The base gaskets aren't exactly the same size, but if the filter mount has a decent sized flange it should still work. I'd inspect the filter mount carefully when the filter is off, and put a thin layer of grease on the 7317 gasket and spin it on to just kiss the mount, remove it and see what kind of footprint the greased gasket left to determine if the 7317 gasket size works OK on that engine.

9688
Base Gasket I.D. 2.13
Base Gasket O.D. 2.42
Base Gasket Thickness 0.2

7317
Base Gasket I.D. 2.218
Base Gasket O.D. 2.484
Base Gasket Thickness 0.281

No, they just like the fact that they are built sturdy with high flow media. Some Rally-X guys. They like that they can take rock hits.

7317 is not the spec for my 2014 5.3, does it fit some, its not even close on the seal dia. I had not even considered it for my truck am I missing something?
