I just figured this one out.

There are 20 Fram Ultra Synthetic Filters at the Walmart Grocery site. Most of them are $8.97 each.

This is what you do...

Buy 6 for $8.97 each which equals $53.82

http://r.wmt.co/hRprl

They will take $10 off that total and you don't even have to go in the store. Most Walmarts now have a special section where they arrange for pickups.

Total cost is $43.82 plus tax or around $7.50 each for a synthetic filter designed to last 20,000 miles.

Alternatively, you can also get two 5 quart bottles of Pennzoil Platinum Full Synthetic for $27.74 Each and you'll hit a double rebate.

Same $10 off $50 as above

Get an additional $20 off from Pennzoil

http://www.pennzoil.com/en_us/promotions...XRpb25hbDE4Lw==

Your total cost is $25.48 plus tax for 10 quarts.

Great idea but not everyone is able to use Walmart grocery, so the discount wont apply for all of us.

Good point. You should check to see if the Walmart near you has the service.

Meh.... I can get a 6 pack of XG---- Ultras on ebay for $24.xx ...
I run them 20,000 miles each,
so that's 120,000 miles of filtration
(with really good synthetic media!)
for $24 and change

Yeah it's a good deal to get an Ultra for $4 each delivered.

I wish they would sell the Ultra cartridge variants for that kind of price too!

why? 3k OCI is crazy, as is 20k for a filter. At least to me. What put you on this type of schedule?

Yeah, I wish I could find an XG8481 for that kind of price. The closest is probably a Mann and that's usually at least $7-8.

This thread prompted me to check ebay and I found:

2 pack FP/CH 8481's for about $5 each. $3 each if you buy 12. Also $2.12 on rockauto.

4 pack of Champ / Champion Labs are $6 each.

3 pack of FPS8481 ie Fram Ultra for $10 each.

Btw, if you want the Mann OEM style, then the Bosch Workshop filters seem identical and are $6. I have a couple of them myself.

Those first two I think are just paper and not the fleece filters. That Bosch one might be though. I might give that a shot if Mobil doesn't offer a good rebate deal on their filter/oil combo.

The fleece filters are specified for 2 year / 20,000 mile oil changes. The other filters are ok for 1 year / 10,000 miles.

Looks like the fleece are 97.5% at 20 microns. Some cellulose / blend are supposedly better than that including the Bosch Premium.
