I am not into all of the cell phone gaming, videos, picture taking, etc. Within the last couple of years I have gone from a flip phone to an LG smart phone. Well, it's starting to give me problems lately. And, I was thinking about getting a SAMSUNG GALAXY J3 model. There is a J7 model but it's $50 more I don't think I can suffice spending the extra $50 unless it will do me good. Opinions?

Try a factory reset? Engage the developer mode and disable forced updates (worked with my S3 and S4, not the S8). That kept my phones alive and working properly until physically damaged.

I agree with doing the factory reset and disabling automatic updates for app not used. You can also uninstall or disable the apps you don't use, this way they will not run in the background. Another trick is to disable background data usage and remove all permissions.

Thanks for the advice, but I like the SAMSUNG phones. What I want advice on is which would be better for my needs? The J7 has a faster processor, larger screen, and I think its battery can be removed, whereas the J3 it can't.
Decisions, decisions.

I'd go with the S7 because of the octa-core chip. I had a J3 then upgraded to a ZTE Blade X Max with octa-core and boy, what a difference. For me, there's nothing worse than waiting for the phone to respond to your commands.

FYI, he is asking about going with a J7 vs. a J3. You mentioned the S7 which is a cost and performance upgrade from the J7. J7 and S7 are different Samsung phones.

To the original poster, my wife had a J3 briefly and quickly switched out to the J7. The J3 had half the memory the J7 did. With that said, I noticed the links you posted showed the J3 and J7 that you are looking at, have the same memory.

Of those two, I'd definitely go with the J7. The J3 only has 1.5 GB of RAM, not really enough, has a weaker prpcessor, a too small battery. All that isn't worth saving 50 bucks.

I like my Galaxy S8+ and had a Gaalxy S and Note 2 aswell iver the years and they have all worked well.

The Galaxy S is still being used by the relative I gave it to in Ghana and my Note2 still works though I only use it for a couple of paid for Apps (a very detailed Map of London

I have had iPhone 4, 4S, 5, 5S and 6+

The touch screen disease affecting the 6+ amd Apples reticence towards accepting this design flaw on the 6 and 6+ means I am unlikely.to get an iPhone again

I thought so too.
But, there is another dilemma. It seems there are (3) versions of the SAMSUNG GALAXY J7. Which of the (3) would YOU choose, or recommend for me?

Well, it seems I just made up my mind. I called my provider, VERIZON, and they highly recommended WM. They said it's the latest version of the J7. And, BB is an older version. They said that almost 80% that buy it from EBAY are having problems with transferring the J7 to a VERIZON account.
So, WM it is. And, they said that WM can hook me up in their store, or I can call VERIZON directly. I will do the latter, it's much easier for me.
Thanks to all that have responded.

I find that I get by just fine with the LG track phones. They cost about $15.00 to $30.00 and it is a double minute phone and a $20.00 card gives me 120 minutes which lasts me a good 6 months. If I lose it or break it I can easily buy another one. but if one needs to talk , text and do email and internet then Track phone is not the best option. Net 10 would be similar and like trac phone one can buy a pay as you go smart phone as well, but if you use a lot of minutes it is probably better to go with a phone and plan from ATT, Verizon etc.

I have the J7 and it was giving me trouble to the point I was considering a new phone. A factory reset and it is working great again. Think I got a virus that kept filling my memory.

UPDATE!
My LG phone finally died yesterday. After having to call VERIZON almost 1-2 times a week, they told me what to look for "INSIDE" of my phone. Sure enough, one of the battery pins was losing its plating and the phone would basically go "COO-KOO" and give me problems. After inspecting it, it finally died. Or, shall I say that I put it out of its misery.
I went to WM and bought the SAMSUNG GALAXY J7V. It was $21 cheaper than when I first checked it out a few weeks ago.
BTW, SAMSUNG makes 3 differnt year models of the J7; 2015, 2016, 2017. Each year has different versions. I got lucky and purchased one made Oct. 2017 with all of the latest greatest updates.
Keep this in mind if you are thinking about buying this phone. Get the latest made version if possible!
