A relatively short OCI: I run almost exclusively short trips and stick to 5k changes. Shorter this time so I could test the oil. Previously M1 0w40 FS has sheared pretty quickly. New engine, so I'll just post the oil numbers and leave out the wear metals (which were fine).

SUS visc. 66.9. (65-75 range)
CSt visc. 12.12. (11.6-14.5)
Flash 395 (>385)
Fuel TBN. 6.0

Yes. I got it with 9k miles, and have cycled through two short OCI's to be comfortable with what's in there. UOA strictly to see if the oil was starting to shear. 5k OCI's from here out.

Yeesh- my original post stunk. To be clear, this was a 4k OCI with the Pennzoil. I normally run Castrol 0w40 due to previous poor performance with M1 0w40 FS, but knowing I'd pull this at 4k wanted to test the PZ Euro 0w40.

Can you provide some additional details of the "poor performance" with M1 0W-40?

ASTM 2896 or 4739 ?

How is it impossible?

Especially, when the starting TBN as specified by VW for 502.00 is higher, iirc, the min is around 8.
