I'm going to get a new lithium-ion to replace the original lead acid in my Yamahs WR. Do folks use a battery tender on these? If so what brands/types are recommended? thanks

Li cells are happiest at half charge state. So letting it sit for 6 months is better for a battery than keeping it topped up.

Calling a company selling a product an industry leader is just plain wrong, its no more correct as companies that sell oil additives to add to your motor oil.
If you want to shorten the life of a Lithium battery, make sure to use a battery tender, as stated above, lithium rather be less charged during storage..
We use lithium batteries for some applications in the security industry, unused, new batteries have a shelf life of up to 2 decades.
Y'all need to get terms and chemistries straight. Alarmguy, a Li battery with such shelf life is more than likely a Li primary, NOT a secondary cell. Li-ion hasnt been out in earnest for 20 years to justify those numbers, and Li-ion does indeed self-discharge. So make sure youre absolutely correct with chemistry before making claims like that.
Li-ion batteries that are not in a single cell configuration can have issues with long term storage at low states of charge. Batteries need to be topped, the highest cells pulled down via resistive load, and the weaker cells charged further up to become "balanced". This is important for the life and wellbeing of large batteries, and is generally built in to a battery management system. Balancing chargers are attempting to do this...
