Hi,

I just did a oil and filter change on my small Cargo van Kangoo.

The last change was in January 2015, with Castrol Magnatec.

This time I used this oil:

Q8 T 750 15W-40

Description
Super High Performance Diesel Engine Lubricant designed for lubrication of low emission Euro IV & Euro V engines.

Application
• In all high performance four stroke diesel engines operating on low sulphur diesel fuel (<0.05 % mass) and under severe heavy duty conditions. Extended oil drain intervals as indicated by the OEM for high quality diesel engine oils can be applied.
• The diesel engines may be normally aspirated, turbocharged or supercharged, with or without intercooling and fitted in commercial vehicles or off-highway equipment.
• Suitable for application in passenger cars with gasoline or diesel engines.

Specifications
ACEA E7
API CI-4/SL/CF
Global DHD-1
MAN M3275
MB Approval 228.3
Volvo VDS-3
MTU Type 2
Renault VI RLD & RLD-2
Deutz DQC III-10
Cummins CES 20071, -72, -76, -77, recommended for 20078 Caterpillar ECF-1 & ECF-2
Mack EO-N
Exceeds requirements of DAF, IVECO and Scania

Benefits
• Excellent protection against bore polishing and cam wear
• Offers prolonged oil drain intervals and reduces maintenance costs
• Protects engine against corrosive wear in off-the-road applications
• Provides quick lubrication after cold starting thus limiting engine wear
• Prevents engine fouling due to combustion soot
• Performance quality allows wide application from cars to trucks
• Universal engine oil suitable for passenger cars, trucks and off-road applications

What you guys think about this oil?

But for another purpose, teach me about DPF poisoning in low-to-none oil consumption engine ?

It looks fine, but the SA is way high in comparison to a CJ-4 or CK-4, much less a C3 oil, and I think that's the only thing that was really being pointed out.

Then this E7 CI4 would be a good selection.
Btw, what's your intended OCI and diesel sulphur levels ?

I shouldn't think so. It's not like it's over the top like a marine lube. wink Over the years, such HDEOs have been used even in gasoline engines. It's not terribly far off in SA from an A3/B4.

Garak, please teach me what's wrong with using HDEO in gasoline engines where ULSF is used ?

There is nothing wrong with it, as far as I can see. Now, if you're talking about a C3 oil in a gasoline engine, one would be able to maximize the OCIs if the fuel were ULSG. With the opposite, I see no problems running an E7, E9 or an E6, E7, E9 type lubricant with ULSG. In fact, I probably am doing that "on occasion" as it is already, unwittingly. Further, if ULSG came into our gas stations magically and unerringly tomorrow, my lube choice would not change; I am using an HDEO in a gasoline engine.
