Here is my first sample on my 2018 Subaru Forester, using whatever oil they have at the dealership. I did a break-in oil change at 1000, then another at 3000. Blackstone mentioned usual break-in metals still, but to push out to 7,500 mile intervals.

Oh thats good news, I've seen all types of Subaru Chain-drive engine issues on the forums. Seeing copper and Iron slightly higher than standards had me nervous, I had NO IDEA it takes this long for the break-in metals to dissipate.

How do people take new cars straight to a racetrack?!

I would have thought Subaru would have got on board with the lowered calcium like Dexos gen2 now that most, or all of their motors use timing chains.

Pennzoil still suggests non dexos oils for my timing chain subie.

What effect would a Dexos oil have?

High levels of calcium have been reduced to meet GM's dexos gen2 oil spec to combat or stop low speed pre ignition, and also lower calcium has been proven to be more "gentle" to timing chains, as most if not all GM's have timing chains now. Hence GM's newest oil spec "Dexos Gen2"

Subaru is slow with oil updates. They were very late on SN availability for the Subaru/Idemitsu oil and Subaru Japan still allows high SAPS Euro 5W-40 and 0W-30 in DIT's.
