So.
04 subaru, 200miles.
Runs like a subaru, sounds like a subaru. Hahaha.
Just tried pennzoil 0w40,but im not sure i like it.
After 300 miles, engine sounds loud, like its due for a change. The previous 0w40 i used, which was specifically for off road applications, seemed to keep it quieter longer. Any suggestions?
Using a subarublue filter.
Northeast us,so cold temps, but long highway runs at
Speed.

What was wrong with the 15W-40, and where did you buy the 0W-40? What did that cost you?

The 15w40 seemed to be a little thick at 10 degrees and under...cold starts were starting to worry me.
The latest pennzoil 0w40 was 25 something or so at walmart.

Had an 06 Forester. It went 110k zero problem miles using M1 5w30. Keep using the Subie filter, it was the only one mine liked.

You found it at Walmart? On the shelf or special order?

And that off-road 0W-40, what brand was that? I've never seen such a thing.

Euro spec, so maybe it's just not compatible with a Japanese engine???

OK guess I was wrong, I never look for it to be honest. Castrol 0W-40 carries more specs so that's what I always get, or the M1 product.

Maxlife was my previous favorite, but noticed better results with a full synthetic. I had been using maxlife blend.

Interesting, I have never seen that before. Thanks for the info.

Yeah, engine noise and oil are b**ch. They drive me crazy. I always shoot for the quietest oil that I can find for a given engine. Just keep trying them until you find the one it likes ...
