It's been 2 weeks now since i bought my Escort ( FORD Escort that is, not something else )
And i have narrowed my oil choice down to either a Valvoline Maxlife frankenbrew or using a HDEO.

Out of these 3 which would be the best for cleaning? ( See engine internal pics : https://www.bobistheoilguy.com/forums/ubbthreads.php/topics/4649829/1 )
The engine takes 3.5L with the oil filter, 10W-40 or 15W-40 is the Ford reccomended grade.

2.5L of Maxlife 15W-40 Dino + 1L of Maxlife 5W-40 full syn

2.5L of Maxlife 15W-40 Dino + 1L of SynPower 10W-40

Or just plain Mixed fleet Shell Rimula R4X 15W-40 HDEO ( API: CI-4, CH-4, CG-4, CF-4, CF. SL; ACEA: E7, E5, E3; Global: DHD-1; Caterpillar: ECF-2, ECF-1-A ) which also has 1250ppm of Zddp, the engine does have a flat tappet SOHC camshaft with fairly high valve spring pressures even on a stock engine ( 220 lbs at full lift ).

The HDEO would be the cheaper option cost wise.

I think Shell Rimula R4X 15w40 on it's own with short intervals should clean her up!

I'm also running a HDEO in our Defender for cleaning reasons. I've also put some Forte seal conditioner in the oil to help soften and swell the old rubber seals, might be worth thinking about it in your case also!

Any oil will clean your engine.
Just do a few 2000 miles oil changes and forget about it.
Or not.
