Valvoline Modern Engine PDS now up.

Good find my friend.

I like the NOACK of 11 percent. Interesting how both Zn and phos are 850 and 800. Kinematic viscosity is within range but the low end of it for a 30 grade at 9.8. Hey the 5w20 is at 9... Interesting. Wonder what the HTHS is?? I'd bet it's right at 3.0. Which is fine obviously. Just hope this stuff stays strong and in grade throughout an entire run. I would bet it does.

Though I just got some Valvoline white bottle for my next run. However, I also have 5 qts of the Valvoline Modern Engine 5w30 as well after that.

I am already planning to run VAS for the remainder of this year but if I see a good price on VME I will consider it. Valvoline is a bit weak on their marketing here. They difference between these two oils is not clearly defined. That will not stop me from using it either.

I’m glad to see that their conventional oil is still in a white bottle although the name is now Daily Protection which really makes no sense whatsoever. Still a good oil.

Ya know Wemay AZ has both Valvoline Advanced full synthetic and Valvoline Modern Engine for $26.99 with the STP XL filter. Fairly decent deal there. The Valvoline Modern Engine is $44.97 vs $37.97 for the Valvoline Advanced full synthetic. But they both are the same for that $26.99 deal. Makes me wonder if and when it shows up in Wally World what the price will be?? I'm guessing $29.97 for 5 qt container.

PimTac I think Valvoline took the overseas name for VWB and brought it here to the US. But I can't say for sure. I do like a simple oil like this has well. No need to shot for the stars all the time

If that were the price here, I'd be all over it. But i passed by Advanced and AZ today and it was still $44 with no filter. But I'm sure it will vomr fown a bit. I wonder if it may show up at Wal-Mart too.

Just been looking at the PDS for the aussie supplied Synpower 5W-40 that I'm currently running and it's changed. The PDS from 2013 has changed from

It's now 0.6 thicker at 100c TBN has dropped 0.5 and pour point dropped 3 dg and lost LL-01. Seems to be a case of swings and roundabouts as far as whether it's now better or worse. I don't know whether we will get a rename or will stay as Synpower.

didn't think a noack above 10 was so great + with Pennzoils typical lack of HTHS me thinks they are hiding a lesser spec!!

ILSAC 30 grades aren't exactly hiding HTHS. You can guess the HTHS within 0.1 99% of the time. With a 40 grade European, you're not going to find a huge variation above or below 3.7, either.
