As promised, here are the VOA results. I see nothing here that would prevent me from running it for a full OCI--the add pack appears to be inline with many of the majors.

What say you?

Thanks for sharing 2015_PSD. Zinc and Phosphorus look good (per Ford's logic on CK-4).

Sinopec availability in the US...interesting.

PDS:

Meets Ford approval.

Looks to be competively priced at $65 per 5-gallon bucket including shipping:

EDIT:

The TBN of 8.52 is less than the PDS reported vslue of 9.76

I scored mine from Amazon for $42 to the door, but it has since gone up to $58 to the door which is still a good bargain. Many of the majors did not meet the old Ford specification, so interesting this one does (nice find). It is supposed to be full synthetic, but I am not sure what that means from the Singapore point of view (i.e. is it synthetic like the US or Germany?).

$42 ?

Great price !

I had missed this originally but its still marketed as CJ-4.

Slightly off-topic but this is the first time I have noticed a CJ-4 actually claiming to meet WSS-M2C171-F1 spec.

Have I just not been paying attention?

WSS-M2C171-F1 or WSS-M2C171-E? -E was for CJ-4; I have not seen any CJ-4 that meets -F1.

F1.

Thanks...I wish I could go back and delete.

No worries! There were not very many of the majors that met the -E specification so to see this oil meet it with a fairly decent VOA is encouraging. My guess is this oil will be around for a while and it is fairly cheap so another option until Ford gets it together. I saw that Amsoil Heavy Duty 5W-40 also meets the -F1 specification as does Amsoil Max Duty 5W-40 so there are more options coming available for -F1.

It's US here.

Zeng - have you used this oil or know someone who has?

Oops,no.
HDEOs in Mobil Shell Castrol Petronas are popular here, mainly amongst fleet/individual owners.

I know of no good way to do this without spending more than the oil is worth (aside from believing the manufacturer's data).

Hi, the CJ4 we use has about 90ppm moly, over 300ppm boron and tbn 11. My understanding is that phosphorous is being reduced (max 800ppm for a CK4 oil) and replaced by boron. I have been lead to believe that pound for pound boron is far more efficient.

Any update on a UOA? Curious to see results. Ive been using the Tulux T600 for a couple years in the fleet both trucks and equipment and none have failed regarding oil, overall looks to be good oil, but the oil does smell horrid after 5k OCI on the Powerstrokes and 10k OCI's on the Cummins trucks and 150hr-200hr OCI's on the equipment, it almost has a propaneish? smell to it after each OCI.
