... wiped out all 5 qts. of VWB 10w40 (SM) they had on the $2/qt. rack. They also had 5-6 qts. of Maxlife 20w50 but I truly have nothing I'd put it in.

But hey, this with the Napa Gold 1060 I still have on the shelf from Napa filter days means I have an OC for my Suburban for <$15!

Good stuff and running White Bottle in the Matrix now. Have about 3k on this oci and am happy with it. Starts up easily even at zero degrees.

I was there a couple days ago wjere they knocked like 5 bucks off the 5 qt jugs. I think my hunch is correct. They only have big sales in the northern states where they are trying to get rid of the thicker weights.

This stuff wasn't even out when I stopped by last week. Makes me want to go hunting in other nearby locations. laugh

I can't remember the last time I bought VWB - out of the 60 gallons of used oil I have around in 4-5 qt. jugs, there's no more than 2 white bottles in there. Maxlife is the same price at WalMart and I'm very impressed with it so I stick with it.

I would be ok with using 10W40 but even me, Mr. Thick oil don't have any use for 20w50.

$2 a quart for conventional?

What happened to the $1 quarts of high end synthetics?

Few years back, I got Castrol Edge and Valvoline ATF for $1 a quart.

The Valvoline clearout was nuts. Every store and every type of ATF. No shortage of stock. Could have set up an ATF fluid exchange business!

Ha - if I found it for that price I'd even buy the 20w50. But I think those days are gone. I'm happy to get it for $17/5 qt. ($3.60 a quart after tax) at WM or price-matched at O'Reillys rather than the parts stores' usual prices of over $30 for the same stuff.

I'll run it happily in my old Suburban, and it's 60%? the price I'd pay for SN.

AutoZone here in Texas is not good. Always old products and no sales. I wish I lived up north.

Yo, Alex (the OP): Recycle that 60 gallons of oil TODAY.

Something weird will happen to your mind and you'll pour it onto the ground as an act of social defiance or something.

Then you'll say, "I'm sorry" as they arrest you.

Not only up North, I've bought 60-70 qts of their synthetic 20w50 and 10w40 in the last few weeks.

Houston just have a lot of people who raid them out quickly.
