Is that filter considered a NAPA Gold, NAPA Silver, or Pro Select?

It's a NAPA Gold. Looks like it held up well! Thanks for the cut and post OP.

Its actually a WIX but identical to the NAPA gold. Ordered a few WIX from Rock Auto and mixed them up with the NAPAS I had in stock.

It's pretty wavy.

What made you determine to run these?

Nice filter choice for that engine! I use a 51516 on my camry's 2AZ.

Wavy pleats doesn't hurt anything. If it tears, then yeah ... not good.

According to WIX Filters, the 51516 is the wrong filter for the 4.0 Tacoma.

kinda wavy for only 5k, especially considering you used PP. Next time, try the WIx XP or Napa Platinum smile

Yeah, it's looking like the only way to avoid wavy pleats anymore is to go full wire backed synthetic.

Mostly around town and short trips. Last OCI was in June.

Wow, you went thru a lot of trouble for no reason. The 1516 is a longer filter with the same specs, more filter surface area.

“No reason “
Suit yourself. I use what is specified for a particular vehicle. Why try to outsmart the engineering team that matched a particular part to a particular vehicle?
