2008 Scion xB, the clutch has become very stiff and have to press it all the way down to get it to start. Any ideas what could be the problem? Clutch isn't brand new, but it has 47k on the replacment.

How's the clutch actuated? Hydraulic, linkage, cable ... ? Might be something binding in the pedal or actuation system.

I'd check fluid / slave cylinder

I'm surprised you are having ANY clutch problems at such a low mileage... You did a full clutch replacement already?

More importantly, what is the temperature when this happened?

Before you do anything, wait till temperature is up and see if it is still happening.
If not, then blame it on the temperature.

This used to happen with my infiniti in west Virginia ta college. I had a stage 3 clutch in the car and even when new if it was below 25 outside the clutch would be very stuff and impossible to "pop". It would just let itself out slowly if you took your foot off. Very odd. My mr2 does the same in the cold with being stiff. The infiniti was tied into the brake reservoir and the mr2 is independent.

Sit in traffic a lot? throw-out bearing DYING ? . . .
