Definitely not the best quality set but im sure it will work fine for those small nuts and bolts.

I keep one in my Jeep. Had to use it just the other day when my battery failed.

Looks identical to the $4 Harbor Freight set. Yes, they are somewhat better than turning bolts with a slice of salami. The problem with cheap sockets is, when they fail, they are more likely to 1) damage the fastener as well and 2) injure the user.

Yep. The great come-ons people kindly post here are always (to me) not available.

Back in the day these cheap socket sets were worthless.
You usually broke the rachet by the third use and sockets would actually split on tight bolts.
Thanks to new computerized casting and construction they are much better. Not necessarily these $3.88 sockets but I read a article where they said that alot of no name rachets like AutoZone Duralast outperform Craftsman tools from the 60-80s easily. Snap on and Matco would not participate in the testing.
The test involved putting the rachets in a frame bending machine and measuring the rachet per pounds per inch before it broke. Surprisingly the alot of tools like Harbot Freight were right up there in the numbers with the big popular brands.
That said I went to get a quad once and I had to remove the wheels. The seller had broke a Craftsman rachet with a pipe. I had a socket set just like the picture and got the wheel bolts off using the same pipe.
I was a little nervous about such a big pipe on a "junk" rachet but it did OK.
Don't know how used the Craftsman rachet was before but just saying these tools are alot better than the ones alot of us remember.

I just would not risk my hand and knuckles to a $3 socket set.

As noted, looks identical to the HF Pittsburgh 40 piece set. Today and tomorrow there's an HF 25% off coupon on their site and in magazine/newspaper ads. If interested makes it ~$3.75 with coupon.

I tried to buy that 3.88 ratchet set but they were out of stock. I ended up just purchasing the new harbor freight 51 piece socket set for $10. By the time i drove the 1/2 hour each way to get the 3.88 set i would have spent close to the $10 in gas. I was already at harbor freight buying a few other tools i needed. I really only bought the socket set because i keep loosing the really small sockets and i cant stand looking for them every time i need to use them.
