Comments on report:
Wear metals are within acceptable limits.
Particle contamination is high due to dust particles.
Oil condition appears satisfactory.
Monitor contamination trend next sample.
Check air intake as the source of dust entry.

TBN: 11.78
------------------
Driving Conditions:
All town driving. Car would sit for 6-11 months then get driven around 50-100kms over a week then parked back in storage.
------------------
Refilled with: M1 0W40 SN
Filter: M1-254
Vehicle is still in storage.
OCI will be set at 5 years (DEC 2022) depending on future mileage.
Filter was cut open. No shiny particles seen in the filter when held up to the sun.

You are still changing your oil too often

408 miles in 4 years. It looks like the way you're using the car is best case for the miles, either don't run it at all or run it up to operating temperature. If that were a Blackstone report they might have said get the air filter fixed and report back in 8 years!

Considering m1 is $90 over here, I wonder if you could do the same but with something far cheaper?

Nice - more proof miles (and run time) are what matter - not sump time. Good post. I've got a 99 Aurora going on 7 years with M1 and don't plan to change it anytime soon. Only about 1000 miles on it so far.

Just ordered M1 0w40 @ $22.88/jug from Walmart.com … two jugs got me free shipping … ETA 04/Jan …

Sounds like a car he leaves at a vacation home.

Also, who cares? Mind your own business.

This is an internet forum, posting here invites people into your business. In fact, using your logic, you should mind your business as i was posting to the OP and not you.

KL31 – Got the oil half price when one of the big auto chain stores stopped stocking it but honestly I use what makes me sleep at night so I've got no intentions of changing.

Bigt61 – Yes it’s been interesting that over 8 years of testing with the different mileage and time combos the results that have been given.

JoelB – I live and work in a different country to where the car is stored. When I return to visit family I drive it. It was my first car, very sentimental towards it. If I sold it I wouldn’t get much money, it just costs me registration fees each year. Working on my cars when I go back is a real treat for me. Hope that satisfies the itch
