My Father in Law's Skoda uses the VW 2.0 turbo engine (2016).

I bought him a 1L bottle of M1 0W40 as a small xmas gift as his engine drinks some oil between services as many VW engines seem to do...

I noticed his car calls for 504 oil and the M1 is 502. Is it just a technicality that the M1 wouldn't be fine to use eg:

1. 504 has to be a 30 grade, a thick 30 grade and M1 is on the thin side of 40
2. M1 is full saps, no problem as it's not a dpf car?
3. Australian fuel is not low sulfur like Europe so not sure if 504 is even good to use for long drains
4. This is old M1 not the new GTL stuff so it should be a good dose of PAO

Would it be ok for top ups considering these points. Protection wise I'd think it would be fine. What do BITOG members think?
