82 years old. Not too bad.

People who count on their fingers should maintain a discreet silence.

A phenomenal sports announcer, journalist, and all-around nice guy. He'll still be rooting for the Padres up there, I'm sure.

Yep, people die every day and new ones are born every day. Endless cycle.

True, lot's of great people pass-on every day, and by all accounts, he was a great guy. But they weren't a part of my adolescent life watching sports. Dick Enberg called the biggest AFC games while i was growing up, like Pat Summerall did the NFC. His voice always took me back to those carefree times.

I agree. That feeling of familiarity established and maintained by broadcasters is HUGE. Stations and advertisers take it to the bank.

When one of them dies it can land like the death of a friendly neighbor.

Me? I'm 50/50 with these people. Some I link up with as stated above. Others "get off on the wrong foot" to my ear.

I believe that's natural.

Charles Osgood, for example, is too sweet to be wholesome. His "voice acting" is way too much. Others like it. I understand.
