I found East Penn Deka batteries regular priced at $78 for a group 35 battery 550 CCA at Agrisupply. The group 24 Easy Penn Deka battery was $74 rated 550 CCA. Those prices are cheaper than Wally World for car batteries. Plus these batteries are made by East Penn. Quite a good everyday price for a good 12v battery. Agrisupply is in the southeast US in states such as NC, SC, GA and there's on in Petersburg Va, plus a couple of other states as well. Just thought I would let some of you guys know that these batteries were available from Agrisupply and at such a low price.

That's a good deal. Just paid $98 (w/ core) last month at the dealership parts counter for a 550 CCA Subaru OEM battery (made by Interstate). I'd have put an Eastern Penn in it if we had any Agrisupply stores here. Replaced battery in the motorcycle this month, would loved to have put a Deka or Bigcrank (also by Eastern Penn) in it but no size fitment available.

How many months of warranty are on that battery? But only 550 CCA even my little Corolla has a 700 CCA battery?

Funny how a little Corolla "needs" 700 plus CCA and yet my 3.5 VQ needs only 550 CCA... The warranty on them is 18 month free replacement. There may be a 18 month pro rate after that but I cannot say for sure. That's usually up to the individual wholesaler for that part of the deal.

Those sound a lot like the Worldsourceone East Penn batteries. Low/minimum CCA, fully sealed, dirt cheap and made by East Penn. So far so good.

FYI: If you have a Costco Membership, a group 35 battery is less than $75 all the time. (They are 'Interstate' batteries, but they seem to be manufactured specifically for Costco).

A rule of thumb about batteries (given a spec group size)

More CCA's = thinner plates = shorter life
Less CCA's = thicker plates = longer life

It may be that the factory installed Subaru battery used to be 390, but the oem replacement that the parts counter at your dealership sells will be the re-labeled Interstate 550 cca unit.

These batteries are the real Mc Coy. The battery picture above was taken from the Agri Supply website. Not too shabby at $78. I will say that I was less than impressed with my recent JC battery from AAP. I have a East Penn battery from Napa that I got for $98. But if I had known that Agri Supply had my battery for $20 less I would have certainly gone there instead.

The factory Subaru battery is a turd. They don't last long at all, I've replaced a couple in as new as 2014 and 2015 cars already.

Yeah KenO I have heard that on here as well. I have heard that the Subaru guys change it to the group 35 size and they are much better.

Of note here which I found interesting.... East Penn Ultimate group 35 battery weighs 37 pounds. East Penn made Napa Legend Premium black battery same exact specs as the East Penn Ultimate group 35.... Yet the Napa Legend Premium black battery only weighs 35 pounds... Makes me wonder just a bit. Maybe East Penn is making their own label batteries just a bit better than the ones they make for Napa, Batteries Plus, Federated, and others. Now, I certainly don't blame East Penn for doing this. I would do the same exact thing. I'd want my own label batteries to be the very best they can be and just a touch better than the ones I make for other suppliers.

The Subaru oem battery I bought from the dealership parts counter was a group 35 size. The factory battery was 35 though, too.

Someone on here had a Subaru or Mazda that had a very small factory battery in it. Like a group 51R or 26R and was asking if they could get a group 35 for their vehicle. The battery tray did allow for enough room for a larger size to fit. I think there's an 80% chance that it was a Subaru but maybe I am remembering it wrong.

That sounds logical yet batteries with longer warranties invariably have higher CCA as well.

Such as a Diehard Gold verses Silver.
