So I go to Walmart expecting to see the great oil rollback price under $20.00 for Castrol and Mobil 1. Nope, it is the same old price.
I ask the clerk if they will match the Walmart online price. She says no, I need to order it online and can then pick it up at a store.

What a joke!

ZZMan, my local WalMart had not changed the shelf prices either. I anticipated that. I pointed it out to the clerk when I stepped in line to check out. I asked the clerk if she'd check with the store manager so I could get the online prices (for both Castrol and M1) advertised on WalMart's national webpage. She did. The manager came over and without a moment's hesitation he authorized the sale at the Black Friday price. Did he have to do that? I don't know. I didn't read the "fine print" on the website, but he sure made a customer happy.

A lot of brick and mortar stores won't honor their online price or they make it a hassle. Part of the reason that over 6000 stores will close soon.

I did not request a manager. However looking at their price match policy it does not include Walmart.com in their match policy.....hmmm.

There you go. If a well spoken ang which is offered online and they got it in stock, WHY WOULDN'T the manager OK that deal?

Heck, why's he the manager then?

Go the extra mile and send a letter of thanks and / or commendation to Walmart HQ.

Yes, I'm that corny but how in Hades do you expect big corporate monsters to even have a chance of rewarding / recognizing good employees?

ZZMan, the time to edit my post above has expired. I wanted to edit my post to reflect that WalMart's online ads now specifically state the $19.98 prices for Castrol and M1 are good for in-store pickup.

Your links to PM for Walmart .com really don't apply in this case. As I understand it you are/were wanting a b&m WM to match the online WM .com price. That is covered in the link, and according to that it should be PM'd by following the procedure listed. https://corporate.walmart.com/policies#00000150-2910-d285-add2-fff8e8700000

Sounds like you got a misinformed employee and/or manager there.

Not long ago WM did say they were going to leave it up to individual stores/managers as to whether to PM a competing b&m store price. But that wouldn't apply here.

Walmqrt is ridiculous with that. They will price match grocery from other stores but not even their own website. Pathetic and unacceptable from such a big chain. I buy stuff elsewhere instead, their loss.

It's not a joke! Retailers are finally starting to go after places like Amazon and Ebay. So the prices on some items are lower online and the brick & mortar stores they own reap the actual pickups, which are normally generated from inside their stores.

No joke!

FWIW, Lowes did not match their own web price, either.
They did not match the pricing from other Lowes in the area for the same item.
Happened to me a long time ago.

Why even bother going to the store they will ship it to your house for free!
