API SN Plus Update?

Other than GM's 1.5T engine, it's hard to find any reports of real engine problems resulting from LSPI, presumably because OEMs have tuned PCMs to avoid it, possibly by richening the mixture under conditions where LSPI could occur.

It seems likely SN+, GF6, Dexos1Gen2 will allow more programming flexibility, perhaps improving fuel economy and reducing fuel dilution. Has there been any indication that, once these new oils permeate the market, OEMs will give owners of older models a chance to take advantage of new PCM programming? Sure would be nice...
