I went by AZ today to see if any sales yet.
Nope.
Also stopped at O'Reilly.
I don't know how they sale any oil with the prices they charge.
Who in their right mind would pay that?

My neighbor down the street, sadly. But he doesn't worry about price....

I used to by my oil at Oreilly back in the day.. by the quarts. An old girlfriend from high school was with me one time while we were in there for her mother's truck and she suggested I use the jugs because (duh duh duuuuuh!!!) they were cheaper.

Also, see post #2 in this thread. laugh

I groaned a bit in a recent Boostedboiz video where despite having made several trips to Home Depot that day, they still end up at O'Reilly for their "cheap" store brand conventional. Which actually costs them ~$9 more than the Formula Shell from Home Depot.

I don't think the parts stores are that much more expensive... I scored 10qts of Castrol Edge and two oil filters for $56 last weekend. That's my BIL's FR-S and my Dad's Jetta taken care of.

The auto parts stores ALWAYS have an oil change deal going... And if you factor in the filter you're actually getting a better deal.

AZ - 5qts Edge + $8.99 filter for $27.99
WM - 5qts Edge - $25 and you still need a filter.

^^^ this up here. That's how you shop at Autozone and their neighbors. OF COURSE it's silly to go in there and buy oil by quart bottle prices without an oil change deal. That's suicide for your wallet.

2014 Mazda 3 Hatch 2.0L & 6spd - Idemitsu 0w20 Synthetic @ $0.75 a quart. (thanks Advance Auto Parts for the awesome deal)

The "oil change specials" are the way to go in auto parts stores.

Changes to labeling or bottle shape created the last of the great oil clearance deals in my neck of the woods.

Rarely, a GREAT oil deal is promoted via Amazon Prime. Those can be made easier to use if you have a separate source for filters.
My last 3 cars have taken the same Volvo cartridge. They are easier / cheaper to buy from the online parts places.
This way I can buy the cases (quarts-jugs, whatever) cleanly.
With the oil change specials I have purchased from stores, I get filters for my friends vehicles. Can you say, "Merry Christmas"?

I most recently bought Mobil1 0W-40 jugs at WM at a good price.

Those rebates and such that people report here where the oil ends up being $0.45 to $1.20 per qt. aren't offered here.

Well thank goodness some folks do. Not me, but some.
If they didnt we may not have brick and mortar stores to get stuff in a hurry if you need it right away.
So I do give them some sales and I hope they stay in business.

I'd convert to Mormonism and marry all of her sisters.....
Seriously, though, my wife DID buy about a dozen jugs of Super S motor oil a couple of years ago when it was on sale. She was just laughing when she was describing to me how everybody was looking at her while in the store.
