Was walking through HD and saw some mitre saw stands out for BF.

Ive always used mine on a workbench/table top or else on the floor.

Is a dedicated foldable stand really that handy?

Ive been thinking about mounting my mitre saw to some plywood or melamine or similar, and then mounting it to my router table somehow through the slots/tracks meant for fences and accessories.

Opinions and experiences?

I set mine on these Home depot stands. I use 2 with plywood under the saw like a long table. The top comes off and they fold to store flat. I hang them on the wall in my shed.

EDIT: Mine are older and do not have self leveling foot on one corner. So i can't vouch for how the new design works. I don't think it would work well with just one. But two with plywood across them works great.

I have the Dewalt folding stand for my 12 inch sliding miter saw. My garage isn't large enough to keep it permanently setup. If I was going to a full time miter saw setup. I would have it mounted on a bench with a support system on both sides.

Something like these.

If you've got the space, building an extended table and fence for the mitre saw is handy. For a project with long boards I just screw the saw to couple 12' 2x6's on saw horses, with a block at each end the height of the table. Also you can screw end blocks to the 2x6 table if you want every board exactly the same length. A proper mitre stand would be handy if you move your saw to different sites a lot though, and setting up end blocks would be faster for short boards atleast.

For contractors that go from job site to job site yes.

I have the same stands. One by itself is too shaky but when I clamp a few 2x6's across both of them, they're very sturdy and can support anything.
