jus as the tite states, was playing bball and it was "cold out" and maybe I needed towarm up but went straight into a game and my achilles got real tender all of a sudden. I didn't feel a pop or anything prodiguously distinct . im putting stuff on it now.\help

+1, don't wait. Even if the pain has gone down. Go. Don't take any pills and hop or whatever you have to do to stay off it. Get a wheelchair as you enter urgent care or wherever it is you go.

If you don't I'll come over to your house and pour some Lucas Oil Stabilizer in your engine. It's that serious.

Meh, they told me the same for my wrist and I rehabbed it with time. I can walk on it now that I put some stuff on it. The stuff is the Walmart branded ben gay equivalent aloong with some eastern oil. kinda potpourri I don't fly off the handle on soft tissue issues and try some self-rehab with this new fandangled internet, only go emergency for profuse blood loss or something life threatening, not some soft tissue bruises, tee hee, yall are funny.

Big plus 1 to what wwilson stated.... This is a serious injury. Get yourself taken care of as soon as possible. This is nothing to wait around on...

As said above, a complete rupture is not fun! It will be very painful, your achilles will contract up into a ball on the back of your calf if it completely ruptures. Stay off it and see an orthopedic physician asap!

My sister injured her achilles tendon during basketball practice. She played in the MAC conference and was on the path to get a BSN.
She got addicted to RX opioids, yanked off and worked her way to heroin. She is on methadone doing once weekly take homes. Thankfully my parents are well
off and can afford to take care of her. The point? Choose your DR wisely.

Yes and not going to heal by itself if its really ruptured.

How old are you?

Hopefully you have a quick recovery.

I really hurt mine. But it did not rupture. I continued to run on it ..30+ miles/week. Took it over a year to get better...duh.
See the Doc.

I have had both Achilles tendons partially torn. They were not allowed to heal properly, and it's been a chronic condition for the past 15 years. I recently had to leave a job because I could no longer work on my feet. Do not take this lightly if you enjoy your ability to walk. Good luck, and stay off the pain killers.

Just by your description, it could be tendinitis. This reads just like a condition I've had to deal with. It's caused by you not keeping it stretched out over time and then all of the sudden asking it to flex again. Basketball without warming up is a perfect scenario for it. I think if you ruptured it you'd probably know.

The CNO at a hospital I worked at ruptured both playing tennis, she jumped up backwards trying to catch a lobbed ball, landed and ouch.
She needed surgery and she made full recovery. Good luck brother, go get a MRI scan done asap to assess the damage, then you can see a specialist (long waits sometimes)

Okay...use the old Walmart cure. It's just the most vital tendon needed for walking and sports activities. There is certainly no chance you've partially torn it or had any heal bone connection injury. I'm sure that rub-on Walmart product and oil will fix everything. No need to have any caution and get it looked at by a sports doctor....that's for babies.

This is it. It is funny cause I was massaging it just recently, and it was tender but didn't hurt. Now I see how I need to not only massage it on the regular and routine but warm it up. Wanted to add that it got cold here but just within the past week (I know, we don't get Autums here, just 2 seasons, hot and kinda cold) so that didn't coolness didnm't help with the lack of warm-up. anyway, enjoyed all the posts so if I didn't quote you, it's all-inclusive.

To the person whose sister popped both, ouch but love the passion inside her.

For the person who said tendinitis, it is cause I originally hurt it hopping down on a ladder in the cold trying to get a squirrel out of an attic.

For the guy who asked if I won, I usually do but I dropped that one and was 1 and done!! Ohhh the agony of defeat, ouhhhh (referencing the commercial now)

Combo of ice and massage and it's got me walking with a slight hitch in my giddyup. still hobbled though.

...then it doesn't sound like you ruptured it, nor even tore it. Otherwise you would be in A LOT of pain and unable to walk. Heck, even tendonitis can burn like [censored] for weeks on end....

No more BBall for you...or stairs, ladders, even curbs as it'll take far less stress to injure it further. Tendons take quite awhile to heal due to low blood flow.

Regular PT message will help. You need a referral in Tx though....

Update: I can now run, short intervals, but stil have soe pain walking however, I am no longer limping or walking with a hitch in my giddyup.

Get it taken care of. My Achilles has been bothering me for weeks. I had it checked out and it’s a bone spur. Ugh.
