Not new at all. They even have them in Fram Ultras too.

“A product line that creates some excitement in the marketplace with profit opportunity based on oil change trade ups”

So it’s a uniquely marketed brand to upsell to businesses so they can upsell to the consumer? Smart...

FPP = FRAM Pro Plus

Same as Tough Guard

"Plain vanilla" white FRAM Pro = same as consumer Orange Can Extra Guard

None of the "pro" series has any black grippy paint.

They are just plainified to reduce cost. They dont put on the grippy paint since a lube shop has filter wrenches galore and adds cost.
They usually come in bulk packs of 6 (maybe 12 in some cases? I didnt look around too much.) The individual Boxes in OP is not something Ive seen before.

The special thing about the Fram Pro Plus is these were discontinued by Fram.

What are the date codes on those?

Early white can Fram Pro filters are Ecore design, if manufactured during the Frampion era.
