OMG, they claim the base model does 8.9 second 1/4 mile, 620 mile range, 0-60 in less than 2, top speed North of 250.

It seems I'm going to have to change my signature from "Turbo's Rule" to "Batteries Rule".

I get your point. However, performance on the street and on the track are very different things. Electric cars have been performing exceedingly well on Nurburgring, for example. Where the limited range of battery power really does not matter. That does not make the Nurburgring run any less incredible or less fun.

Clearly, battery power will not be moving jet airliners around the country anytime soon. The specific energy is not there, nor is the required heat. That's a job for the excellent specific energy released by burning kerosene.

Is it 1.9 seconds to 60 or 1.9 seconds till the wheels fall off? LOL

Can't wait to see if the Grand Tour tests one. If they'll let them, they sued Top Gear because of Clarkson's less than becoming review on the original Tesla.

They probably will win in Le Mans if it's a one week event only for battery powered cars. And they will need to recharge the car track side and when they do get going, they will go into the "save the battery" mode since all the heat generated from releasing so much energy to the axle.

Tough crowd here at BITOG!!! The Tesla is a rich man's toy. I'm still impressed. I love driving the Model S, P100d, and I can't wait until my friend gets one of these!

Looks like pricing starts at $200K...

I agree it looks great and the performance figures are just maddening.

I'll be impressed when they can actually build their existing car at a reasonable production rate.

CGI images and a spec sheet aren't impressive.

I will be impressed when they can do it without the $7K tax credit that comes out of my pocket.

CORRECTION: Tesla has come out with a press release and a spec sheet. (maybe a prototype?)

Curious? Check out: Tesla Business Model of announcing new vehicles and reservations.

If Tesla is still around five years from now I'll consider one of their cars. Right now I'm still not convinced that they will survive.

I would say we are a cautious and skeptical bunch. Anything can look good on paper.

Tesla can't even get their production line running for the Model 3. They probably released this to get the attention focus on something other than their failing production schedules.
