After some head scratching , I ordered these tires ;

https://www.walmart.com/ip/195-65-15-HANKOOK-OPTIMO-H724-89T-BW-Tires/17792580

The OEM tires are Hankook , so I am guessing these will be no better or worse than the OEM tires . Which have lasted ~ 40,000 miles . Although , what I ordered are suspose to be 75,000 or 70,000 mile tires .

Tracking says they will arrive at Walmart tomorrow .

Best of luck to all of you , :)

I got the Hankook H725 a few months back. They now have 5000 miles on them. I'm happy with them they are quiet and so far are wearing well it appears.

The Sonic is mt Wife's daily driver , mostly in town . As such , I agree , I doubt if we get 70,000 miles .

But if we get close to that , I will be satisfied .

Thanks , :)

Yea no way you are getting 70k out of a 500 A/B tire. Maybe in the 30-40k range. They are a very basic tire and do not excel at anything.

The Mastercraft MC-440, a cooper tire, will last as long but perform better.

The General Altimax RT43 will last a lot longer and perform better. If you order today they have a rebate that make them about the same price.

Bought set of 4 Hankook Optimo H724 for old Mercedes. Ride smooth and soft. Handling also soft. Much better overall than Kumho KR 21 for another vehicle in that KR21 vibrates and has radial runout since new.

I recently got 65k out of some UHP Hankook Ventus V2 tires. Wet/dry traction was fine and could have chanced it with another 5k before winter but didn't want to take the gamble of one blowing on the hwy. So if some UHP tires can do it these may as well. Those tires didn't even come with a mileage warranty. They were on the Matrix and rotations were so-so. Alignment had never been done either until the new set that was recently installed. They were 500 A A.

These maybe made in China iirc. Also be sure to get the T rated version since the higher speed rated versions have a different tread pattern. The T rated one appears like it would do much better in winter conditions compared to the higher speed ratings. Which is the same thing with the RT43 as some tests indicate.

Hankook also has a "value" line of tires out. They are called Laufenn tires. Here's a sample of one:

While they will probably a quality tire with no problems, you may have been better off with summer tires if you have a warm year-round climate

But I do hope you get many enjoyable miles out of your Hankooks

Depends on where you are in the state , as to the climate .

Not unusual to get down to the teens . Occasionally it will drop to below zero F . Have seen it around -15F a few times . But 10F and 30 - 40 MPG wind , gets kind of tough for our sensibilities .

100F not unusual , up to 110F . Was 43F earlier today .

We usually get 2 to 6 - 8 snow / ice storms in the winter . But nor excessice with the salt . Rust is not a big problem .

Thanks , :)

The tires arrived at Walmart Wednesday . Had them install them , no apparent issues , except the tech told me he aired them to 35 PSI . I like to run 40 PSI . Will add some air , myself .

Only drove it from Walmart to the AT&T store ( son needed to pay his bill ) & then home . Drove about like it always has . My wife normally drives the Sonic . She is out of state vising one of the grand daughters .

Need to get it on the highway & see how much sound / road noise they produce .

Thanks , :)
