Hi everyone. I have a 2006 Nissan Sentra SE-R Spec-V with the 2.5L QR25-DE. It has 106k miles on the car, and 3500 miles on the oil. I used Valvoline Full Synthetic 5w-30, and added about a half of a quart with this run.

Copper seems a little bit high, I wonder what that could be.

Sometimes some of the sealants will have Copper or Silica in them and it leaches out. I had this with my Santa Fe UOA's. 300K Miles it lasted and showed high all the time. We thought at first the air filter or some sort of unfiltered air leak was happening to causing the Silica but it wasn't. My mom's Kia Spectra showed the same. (Same companies using the same sealants I guess)

Not saying yours is the same case but if you can't nail it down this might be it.

Don't worry about the copper at 11 PPM. Worry about high chromium and iron numbers in those QR25DE engines. I'm guessing you already know the early QR25DE's ate the pre-cat, pieces got sucked back into the engine because of reversion and wore the cylinder walls out. You have an 06', so you might be safe?

StevieC: Hm. The car is a recent acquisition for me, and according to the dealer I bought it from the engine was remanufactured by Nissan at some point. I wonder if newish seals could cause that maybe?

skyactiv: according to Nissan forums, the 06 models aren't safe from the pre-cat worries. I installed a performance header from 2J Racing at about 102k miles to be safe (and I thought to myself why not gain a couple of hp in the process smile ). If I was afflicted with the pre-cat issue, I wonder how long the stuff stays in the engine after changing the part out. My iron is low, but there is a little bit of chromium.

Merkava_4: Thanks. I do want to get that chromium down, so it seems I'll have to check the metals with the next oil change.

Possible. We couldn't explain it on the Hyundai/Kia we had and it seemed to have no long term effects on the engine. thumbsup
