Hello,

With the success I had (depending on perspective lol) with AAP and the QSUD clearance, I was curious what some of you all have found for cheap oil filters?

I found a few Bosch Distance Plus filters when WM was clearing those out.

Is that typically how you bargain hunters stock up on filters? I see NAPA has a possible sale on Gold filters.

I scored some good deals on Fram Ultra filters on eBay, for my Rubicon and Liberty.

I get OEM filters from Amazon in bulk, and when there is a MIR like there currently is for Mobil 1 filters. I personally stay away from the cheapies at wally world when they make it to the discount rack.

I used to get the new Purolator One Blue can from Amazon they were $5.95 but now they have suddenly got proud of them and want $9.70 each for them. So since I'm so brand faithful not now its Ultra at Walmart for $7.94. I sure that isn't the best price but it meets my goal of a full synthetic OIC and filter for under $30.

You can usually buy 5-6 half case for <$5 each for OEM filters. The toyota ones i use (YZZD3) are well regarded si i stick with them. Nothing fancy but plenty good enough for my 5k ocis. (My conscious decision, i know it can go longer)

I dont bother looking to shave 1-2$ off that price. I get much bigger discunts on oil like M1 and Penzoil rebates as well as the Havoline and qsud clearance sales.

I got fram ultra (12) for my wrangler off ebay. OEM Mopar from wal-mart. would use supertech/wix (5000 mi. OCI)if not for these. I like a deal, but I don't put a lot of effort into it.

One of my local WMs had a bunch of Fram Ultras on clearance for $3 so I bought all the 3614 and 6607s they had. No idea why they were on clearance because they still carry them.

I also picked up a bunch from AAP when they had a $40 off $100 deal. I needed a part that was about $60 and I just added $40 worth of oil filters to get to $100, so the filters basically ended up being free.

With the QSUD sale, I could buy a $20 filter and still be ahead of normal price lol

Just curious if any shops like AAP, Autozone, O'Reily, Bennett Auto Supply, etc have clearances.

I should mention that for my 300ZX, one of the Z guys gave us a heads up about M1 filters being cleared out on Rockauto. I got a bunch, maybe 10 or so, for about $12. That hasn't happened very often though.

I scored a TON of filters from Rock Auto in their "Ultra Power" brand, which isn't really a brand it's a clearance house for overstock or buyouts from other warehouses. So for example when Car Quest was bought by Advance Auto all of the CQ wix and Fram filters ended up at the Ultra Power warehouse and sold dirt cheap. I bought a ton of wix made filters for $1.42 each. Take a look, lots of different filters there for a steal of a deal.

Isn't that sort of how Beck-Arnley operates? Repackaging new old stock in their own boxes?

A few weeks ago, I visited the MIL and had a few hours to spare so I was browsing inside the Ballinger, Texas Walmart. That has got to be the smallest WM in the US. (Google street map it.) Anyway, they had all their Christmas junk getting set up, so they clearanced out all of their Motorcraft oil filters on sale for $.50 each.
A few months ago, I got a few dozen Hastings PH8A-equivalent filters and FL820A-equivalent filters on sale for under $1 each From RockAuto. Some of these were painted to be sold at the Federated auto parts stores.
