Hi guys, I've been running Mobil 1 0w40 in my car since my first change with 2,500 miles. I now have just over 15k miles with little if any oil usage and I'm doing a 7.5k mile OCI. Just wondering if there are any better options out there since theres been talks of Mobil 1 0w40 going weaker. NOACK seems to be the hardest stat to find and I've tried searching here and elsewhere for oils under these specs with not much luck. I'm interested more so in the 504 spec oils since they seem to have a higher standard. The car is stock other than a drop in filter and it is run harder than average.

I'm considering going with Amsoil Euro 5w30 since it has an actual approval for VW 504 and has really good numbers.

Thanks for the info!

M1 ESP 5w-30 meets VW 504.00/507.00 spec and has Noack of below 6%. It is a low SAPS oil though.

Personally though, if it was my gasoline-powered VW engine, I'd stick with M1 0w-40.

I used 507 oil in my TDI. Looks to be good oil but the tbn starts low too. Not sure if it would stand up to gasoline here.

Is it? Thought it was mid-SAPS, low ash.
