Where did you get the alternator from?

Are the batt terminals clean & tight?

Here's the back story on the car:

That battery tender junior don't look like a real battery charger. Looks more like an AC adapter.

Here's a real battery charger. A Schauer BH12

So, somehow the alternator isn't getting the message to make electricity.

I bet it's computer controlled.

You need to find wiring schematics to see how to energize the field coil in the alternator. Get some sort of jumper wire and force the alt to work 100%. Or pull the alternator you just put in and have it tested at a store.

From there we can work it out. You might be able to retrofit a 70's dodge external regulator for example.

The battery tender jr may be small and not look like much. But it works. Eventually. I'm assuming the replacement AZ alternator is ok. Because its the same issue that had me assuming alternator in the first place. Voltage not running, no key, 12.30v. Start up and idling, voltage takes a dip to 11-11.30v. So its not charging with a new alternator.

Its had an engine swap by PO. Could a missing ground cause an issue like this?
