Valeo calls them "Les Lunettes" . Not yet widely available, despite being introduced around Jan 2016. The vehicle and the glasses need to be compatible.

...Through pulse-width modulation, Les Lunettes synchronise with your car’s LED or laser headlights. The glare from oncoming headlights is then reduced while the perceived lumen intensity of your own car’s headlights remains bright.

This PWM technology will reduce the intensity at night of any oncoming vehicle’s headlights, whether halogen, xenon, LED or laser...

...How they work: Les Lunettes by Valeo are active shutter glasses. When the system is activated and detects glare, the shutters automatically swing into action to reduce the intensity of the light for the driver…

...Les Lunettes by Valeo are the first active glasses solution that dims glare from oncoming traffic without reducing the effectiveness of the driver's own headlamps. This is because the glasses are synchronized with the driver's own LED or laser headlamps using pulse-width modulation (PWM). Random frequency modulation prevents interference from passing cars that are fitted with the same system. Thanks to this technology, the glasses can reduce the intensity of any vehicle's headlamps…

...At night, Les Lunettes by Valeo soften the intensity of oncoming car headlamps without dimming the perceived brightness of the driver's own beams...

When they mention "shutters" they are not talking about mechanical shutters.

The nerd in me likes such things. I suspect that the dark color will reduce light throughput though and seeing outside of the headlights illumination will be somewhat more difficult.

I may rather have a microbolomoter (non cooled infrared camera) hooked to a heads up display. To see non illuminated things.

People who count on their fingers should maintain a discreet silence.

I like the idea of the Les Lunettes. A google search today shows no retail availability. What happened?
