Experts, I need your opinions! I did 2 D&F back in August and got the third one done last week on my 2015 Ford Edge. Long story short, at first drain (13k miles) I found 2~3 curved metallic derbies about finger nail size and some very small metal bits in the drain pan. Fast forward to last week, I did another D&F at 15k (2000 miles later) and I found one tiny gold color flake in the drain pan but thats it. it was pretty clean on the 3rd drain. I already scheduled with service to have it take a look but due to Hurricane it got postponed till later this month. I would like to hear your thoughts on this. Transmission shifts ok for the most part except having a small flare (500rpm went up to 1000rpm) when down shifting from 2nd to 1st. Much thanks in advance!

i saw similar things in my drain pan when i switched to a different drain plug with aluminum washers. the flakes were non-magnetic and likely from a washer. use a magnet and see if magnetic.
I also had an instance where metallic particles showed up on a tranny dipstick, turned out notches on the dipstick scratched the dipstick tube. apparently checking fluids too much can be harmful too.

If the transmission is working fine, don't worry about it. I didn't bother to drop the transmission pan on my 1995 Escort until it had around 165K miles in it, and the magnets in the transmission pan were filthy. I cleaned them up and reinstalled them and I now have over 241K miles in that transmission.

You're asking them to look for a problem that likely doesn't exist ?

This may be completely "normal" (to Ford, or as designed). I'd check that first before presuming it's wrong.

Tom777, what you saw in terms of amount and size of debris is perfectly normal. Check out the image below to see what I had at first D&F. Unfortunately a blurry image, but you get the idea. If I were you I wouldn't bother going to a dealer. Like Hallstevenson said you'll be asking them to look for a problem that doesn't exist.

7AT on 2013 G37 first D&F at 22,xxx miles. Currently at 42,xxx and shifts perfectly.
