Seriously, it depends...
 
They're both much the same, I'd wager, at least as far as we could tell outside a lab. An A3/B4 oil is, after all, dual rated, and is certainly acceptable for use in various pre-emissions diesel engines. But, you're not going to run a bunch of quick, cheap oil changes on a synthetic A3/B4 versus a conventional 15w-40, either.
 
Neither did any cleaning of any measurable amount in my past experience w/ them. That's how I got sucked into the additive vortex.
